JOB SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to monitor the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other financial activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial records.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address bank inquiries.
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts and other financial accounts.
- Verify and process wire payments for accounts payable.
- Assist external auditors by providing necessary account information.
- Collaborate with other departments to support financial operations.
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency.
- Stay updated on accounting practices and procedures.
Daily Tasks:
- Post daily banking transactions and adjustments to the General Ledger.
- Prepare daily check deposits and post to the General Ledger.
- Prepare AP Wires and ACH’s for approval.
- Post daily intercompany transactions to the General Ledger.
Monthly Tasks:
- Post all General Ledger entries including Allocations, Amortizations, Accruals, and more.
- Reconcile accounts for Monthly Financial Statements preparation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Associate degree in accounting or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of General Ledger experience.
- Experience with AP/AR processes.
- Knowledge of Navision and Telnet systems is a plus.
- CPA certification is advantageous.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- To perform the position, you must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR. ITAR defines a US Person as a US Citizen, US Permanent Resident (I.e., 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
- Must be able to report to assigned office location during scheduled in-office workdays.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software. Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers.
