Job Description

The Lone Tree Community School District is seeking a High School Science Teacher for the 2024-25 school year with a starting salary of $40,050. Final salary will be determined by qualifications and experience. All applicants are encouraged to apply.

Lone Tree School has a tremendously supportive community and staff and believes in Every Student, Every Day. Staff and student schedules allow time for both staff and students to get to know each other. Staff collaboration is a priority to ensure student needs are being met each day. Staff to student ratio is small, allowing for more individualized attention each day.

The Lone Tree Community School District is located along the Hwy 218 corridor with access to Iowa City in approximately 15 minutes. Lone Tree has a small-town feel with ready access to the amenities of Iowa City, Kirkwood Community College, and the University of Iowa. Lone Tree Community School District is proud to serve over 400 students.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the ability to enhance academic performance.

  • Demonstrates competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position.

  • Demonstrates competence in planning and preparing for instruction.

  • Uses strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students.

  • Uses effective classroom management strategies.

  • Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Valid Iowa teaching license in any of the following

  • 5-12 Biological Science - 151

  • 5-12 Chemistry - 152

  • 5-12 Physics - 156

  • 5-12 All Science - 185


The ideal applicant will be a subject matter expert in the teaching area, proficient in the use of student achievement data to guide instruction, able to openly and honestly collaborate with peers, able to use technology to present high-quality student instruction, and committed to maximizing the learning potential of all students.
