POSITION: LOD - Houseperson

FLSA: Non-Exempt/Hourly

DEPARTMENT: Housekeeping

REPORTS TO: Manager, Housekeeping

SUMMARY: The Houseperson responsibilities will include but not limited to: Transporting housekeepers to and from units and assists housekeepers with any heavy work. Strips and stocks linen closets, will make VIP deliveries when needed, responds to guest calls for any requests.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

· Check all fluid levels in assigned vehicle daily.

· Ensure keys and radio are in working order at start of shift.

· Transport housekeepers and supervisors to assigned units in a.m. and throughout the day.

· Carry all necessary supplies and linen in vehicle and take to housekeepers as needed throughout day.

· Check out assigned loaner vacuum at start of shift and return to Housekeeping at close of day.

· Check often with base for any orders that have been called into office.

· Communicate clearly throughout day via radio with base personnel.

· Assist with delivery of firewood when guest requests. May be asked to assist with the clean-up of trash at dumpsters.

· Clean housekeeping building, assist with linen delivery via linen truck to ensure linen closet par levels are maintained.

· Pick up dirty linen from closets and assist housekeepers with linen pickups.

· Pick up VIP deliveries from storeroom and deliver to assigned units.

· Deliver any supplies to housekeepers and supervisors throughout the day.

· Replace light bulbs, answer all pages and check units for small repairs for guests such as TV and cable connections, breaker problems and minor key issues.

· Assist Front Desk with flower and gift deliveries, assist guests with accessing units when keys do not work.

· Do occupancy checks at checkout.

· Assist with the securing of all vacant units.

· Move furniture and do high dusting during spring cleaning.

· Pick up and deliver all supervisors and housekeepers in a timely manner at end of day.

· Assist guests with moves from one unit to another.

· Ability to drive in snow and ice is imperative.

· Must be physically able to assist in snow shoveling.

· Must be guest service oriented at all times.

Skill & Abilities in:

· Using initiative, discretion, and judgment within established procedures, guidelines, and rules.

· Communicating effectively.

· Keeping accurate records and preparing required reports including financial and analytical reporting.

· Inspecting, operating, and diagnosing problems and performing preventative maintenance.

· Interpreting documents such as safety rules descriptions.

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

GED or High School Diploma preferred

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):

· Must possess a valid, unrestricted Virginia driver’s license upon hire and maintain throughout the length of employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

· Physical demands on the incumbent consist of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; using hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects up to 50 pounds and/or utilizing a hand dolly to move up to 100 pounds.

· Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility.

· Incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.

· Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor environment. Incumbent shall be exposed to conditions normally encountered in an outdoor environment and including travel from site to site.

· Incumbent wears personal equipment protection including protective footwear.
