Monuments Academy in Brian Head, UT is looking to hire an on-call Wilderness Field Mentors. Do you enjoy being outside? Do you enjoy making a difference in the lives of teens? Are you ready to be a part of something bigger? If so, please read on.

This Wilderness Field Mentor position earns a competitive starting wage of $16/hour but may increase due to experience and expertise. We are looking for individuals to facilitate 1-3 day wilderness excursions in the Cedar City/Parowan area on an on-call basis.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A WILDERNESS FIELD MENTOR

As a Wilderness Program Field Mentor, you are responsible for fostering relationships, guiding adventure outings, and upholding consistent program expectations with adolescents in a therapeutic residential setting.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL MENTOR

  • 20+ years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to remain in control during stressful situations, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment.
  • Understanding and practicing appropriate boundaries is essential.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to pass driving tests and remain up to date on required driving courses.

Outdoor working experience is preferred and outdoor certifications are a plus. Do you have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal? Do you enjoy building relationships with people? Are you team-oriented? Do you like working with teenagers? If so, you might just be perfect for this Wilderness Field Mentor position.

WORK SCHEDULE

You would be part of an on-call pool who could be contacted with 1-2 days' notice to take a single-student on a 1-3 day wilderness experience. Field mentors would be rotated in and out of the assignment as their schedules allowed. Monuments would provide the location, gear (as needed), transportation, and field support for each assignment.
