Farm Manager

Are you passionate about nature and being outdoors? Do you have experience in maintaining land, specifically hunting land and orchards? Our farm is searching for an enthusiastic Farm Hand & Lawn Maintenance professional for our family farm in Elko, GA. As a vital part of our operations, you will play a key role in cultivating and maintaining our orchard, as well as ensuring our lawn and hunting land is well-kept and visually appealing.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining hunting land, i.e. clearing trails, taking soil samples, caring for food plots, shrub maintenance, etc

• Assist in the planting, watering, pruning, and harvesting of fruit trees in our orchard.

• Conduct regular inspections of the orchard to identify and address any signs of pests, diseases, or other issues that may impact the health of the trees.

• Handle fertilization tasks

• Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, such as pruners, sprayers, and mowers, to carry out orchard and lawn maintenance tasks. Operate tractors and other heavy equipment.

• Perform regular mowing, edging, and trimming of the lawn to ensure a neat and attractive appearance.

• Apply herbicides and pesticides safely and effectively, following all applicable safety guidelines.

• Maintain accurate records of all orchard and lawn maintenance activities, including dates of tasks performed and the quantity of materials used.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in land maintenance and lawn care.

• Strong knowledge of horticulture and the specific needs of fruit trees, as well as lawn care techniques.

• Ability to identify signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies, and take appropriate actions.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy equipment or working for extended periods of time under the sun.

• Ability to operate a tractor and other heavy equipment.

• Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and ability to operate irrigation equipment.

• Knowledge of safe handling and application of herbicides and pesticides.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
