Summary
The College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering’s (CTAAE) - School of the Built Environment (SBE) at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is seeking a full-time, renewable Qualified Rank Assistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure-track) for the Architecture and Environmental Design program. The individual will teach undergraduate courses in architecture in one or more areas of (depending on expertise): Design Fundamentals; Design Communication; Architecture Design Studios; Architecture Theory; Computer Aided Design; Environmental Systems; Sustainability. In addition to teaching, the individual will focus on supporting collaborative partnerships between the Architecture and Environmental Design Department, student organizations, business, profession, and government. The successful candidate will have the skills to initiate and coordinate outreach activities with architecture- and design-related firms for the purpose of educational interaction with our students and the development of financial support. The expected start date is August 12, 2024.
Housed within the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering, the School of the Built Environment offers a transformative experience for students who seek to engage in design-build innovation, and the creation of exemplary places, structures, and systems with the goal of shaping the future of our built environment. The SBE is comprised of the Department of Architecture and Environmental Design and the Department of Construction Management, two units with established histories, collaborations, and synergies. Our program remains distinct because we require two (2) paid co-op experiences, which typically transition into full-time job opportunities upon graduation.
The Architecture and Environmental Design program enrolls over 250 students and offers the following degrees:
Bachelor of Science in Architecture
Masters of Architecture (NAAB Accredited)

Essential Functions
Teach undergraduate courses in the Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree program and
participate in undergraduate curriculum development.
Mentor undergraduate
Perform service to the school, college, and university. Service activities and efforts will focus primarily
on collaborative partnerships between the Architecture and Environmental Design Department, the student organizations, business, profession, and government. Will Initiate and coordinate outreach activities with architecture- and design related firms for the purpose of educational interaction with our students and development of financial support.
Minimum Qualifications
At least a Master of Architecture degree (NAAB accredited).
At least one year of architecture-related professional experience in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
1) Demonstrated promise for teaching architectural design studios and other courses that critically and
productively engage computational and digital design techniques, and in their own creative work.
2) Experience with cross-disciplinary teaching and service efforts in architecture and construction
management.
3) Licensure as a registered architect.
4) Knowledge of digital software applications in architecture (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.).
Professional level certification/s in one or more areas such as: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP); Passive House Institute US (PHIUS); Design Build Institute of America (DBIA); Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC); Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP).
