SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Supervisor for a homeless shelter in Brentwood. The Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shelter, conducting client assessments, developing Independent Living Plans (ILP), linking clients with community-based services, and assisting clients in achieving self-sufficiency through advocacy, counseling, and resource referrals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Supervisor will oversee staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and conducting supervision and performance appraisals.
• Ensure all Agency and shelter rules, policies and procedures are followed to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
• Promote client success by providing information and support to clients.
• Assist with intake procedures.
• The Supervisor will ensure the effective shelter operations and recommend operational improvements to administration.
• Model ethical behavior and support a team environment.
• The Supervisor will assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations to resolve the problem.
• Provide coverage for uncovered shifts in emergency situations.
• Work in partnership with the Program Director; seek supervisory input as needed.
• Comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Answer all emails, phone calls, and voicemails in a timely manner.
• Attend all required trainings timely.
• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of related experience required. Knowledge of the Suffolk County Department of Social Services preferred.

Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required. Knowledge of HMIS strongly preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment is required.

Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License required.
