We are looking for a talented Machining Quality Technician - 1st Shift join our team specializing in Quality for our Engine Business Segment in Rocky Mount, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Supports Engineers in carrying out production-related and inspection jobs; assists in monitor materials quality in processing plants and making the required adjustments; ensures maintenance of documentation and records.
• Works under minimal supervision.
• Compares the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment and products to technical specifications to identify defects.
• Conducts simple tests (for example on electrical function, reliability, packaging quality).
• Records results and prepare simple technical reports.
• Provides product and component testing using a range of measurement equipment.
• Provides advanced programming, training, and operation of measurement and test equipment.
• Assists customers in understanding/interpreting product specifications and application of measurement data.
• Participates in measurement uncertainty studies for measurements associated with measurement or calibration results.
• Ensures proper maintenance and calibration of the measurement and test equipment.

• Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, "Metrology" e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.
• Laboratory Management - Leads technical resources while managing the business aspects of a laboratory using measure to control both the technical and business aspects of the organization and assuring the requirements of the appropriate certifications and/or accreditations are met.
• Quality Process Management - Applies and manages methods (e.g. SPC, Capability studies, Layered Process Audit, inspection, test) to ensure quality of Cummins products, processes, and services.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

• High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

• Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

Additional Details

• Assists in day-to-day response to line calls, GR&Rs, Data pulling and analysis.
• Understands and is able to perform full RCA and drives to a full corrective action of any online quality issues.
• Monitors process to identify and leads resolution of issues in production that impact Quality.
• Maintains and drives Production Quality Documentation and updates.
• Champions Change Management. (VPI changes, Equipment and Process Changes)
• Provides reports on manufacturing quality issues from the floor (Quality Report) and leads creation and ensures completion of action plan.
• Performs and Resolves issues from specified Quality Audits.
• Leads Meetings, pulling in various support groups, and escalates issues to Quality Engineering as needed to track corrective actions.
• Leads improvement projects and supports quality glidepath initiatives.
• Leads line calls over the radio, mentors lower levels in responding to quality issues on the production floor.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
