SALARY: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour

BENEFITS: All eligible full time employees will receive Paid Annual Leave (PAL) starting at 23 days per year and raising by one day per year following one full calendar year of employment (January through December). They will also be offered health benefits and will be automatically enrolled in employer paid short and long term disability and life insurance.

All full time and part time employees have access to participate in the Delphinus Engineering 401(k) which includes company match of 25% up to 10% deferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY: Sheet Metal Mechanics must understand how to perform tasks in these categories (including, but not limited to, the specific tasks identified below) and is able to complete them with minimal assistance. This also means that the mechanic has the necessary level of knowledge of the equipment, protective gear, and machinery required to complete these tasks.

Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must understand the layout of the ship and compartment identification
• Must demonstrate knowledge of blueprint reading, written requirements, and ship terminology.
• Must function and operate hand tools and power tools with no assistance safely and efficiently
• Must have proficient in Habitability layout and installation of metal joiner (MJ) bulkheads, MJ doors, berths, galleys, and office outfitting.
• Must work under industrial repair conditions; work in confined spaces; climb vertical and inclined ladders; operate basic hand-held manual and power tools; and lift objects that weigh up to 50 pounds and seek assistance with weights over 50 lbs.
• Must have possess an in-depth knowledge of the Sheetmetal trade and have the ability to understand and delegate ship work.
• Must be able to supervise and mentor and direct lower class sheet metal mechanics and helpers
• Must possesses in-depth knowledge
• Must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations
• Must know various materials to include galvanized steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.
• Must be able to supervise and direct a small to medium installation team (3-10 personnel) with minimal guidance.
• Must ensuring that quality standards are adhered to by themselves as well as other employees,
• Must be Physically and Medically qualified to wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for the job
• Must be able to fabricate and install sheet metal items, vent, flashing, racks, lockers, bulkhead panels, sanitary space install etc.
• Must be able to weld sheet metal components using GTAW and / or MIG weld processes
• Minimum relevant experience: 5 to 8 yrs.
• Must be able to read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
• Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
• Must be able to calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
• Must want to excel in the shipyard.
• Must be able to pass Drug Screening, Work Ability Screening.
• Must be able to obtain government access badge.
