Role and Responsibilities

\n

The CNC Mill Programmer operator develops programs to control machining or processing of parts by automatic machine tools, equipment or systems. Determine the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes. This job description indicates the general nature and level of the work that is expected.   • Revise programs to eliminate errors and retest programs to check that problems have been solved.
  • \n
  • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, printed circuit board pattern films and design data in order to calculate dimensions, tool selection and machine speeds.
  • \n
  • Determine reference points, machine cutting paths or hole locations and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii and curvatures.
  • \n
  • Observe machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
  • \n
  • Compare encoded program or computer printout with original part specifications and blueprints to verify accuracy of instructions.
  • \n
  • Write programs in the language of a machine’s controller and store programs on disks.
  • \n
  • Modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.
  • \n

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

\n
    \n
  • Must have programming experience (Required).
  • \n
  • Knowledge of general machining practices encompassing cutting tool nomenclature and uses, calculations of speeds, material composition understanding, comprehension of the basic function of fixtures and familiarity with inspecting and checking methods.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of precision measuring tools
  • \n
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and tool designs.
  • \n
  • Interpersonal skills required to interact with internal personnel in Sales, Estimating, Shipping and Administration
  • \n
  • Strong ability to read, sort, check, count and verify numbers.
  • \n
  • CAD/CAM & CNC Programming
  • \n
  • Organizational skills (self, data, parts)
  • \n
  • Creative thinking

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience in Machine Shop Math
  • \n
  • Experience with Powermill programming.
  • \n
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.

  • Must have a strong work ethic, be dependable, honest, and responsible.

  • Experience with CNC machine operation
  • \n
  • Experience with manual machine operation
  • \n
  • Excellent working knowledge of machining processes and in-depth understanding of tool and die manufacturing
