Position: Direct Support Professional 

Location: Honolulu, HI

Pay: $18/hr

Experience: 6 months of volunteer or work experience assisting persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities 

Education: High School diploma or GED

Type: Full-time; Direct Hire 

Schedule: Saturday-Sunday, 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; Monday - Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Kahu Malama Nurses is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join a growing and dynamic team! 

 

Job Description: 

• Service food and beverage and measure vital signs
• Assure confidentiality of all participants protected health information and records
• Assists in assuring program compliance on all applicable standards, policies, and regulations
• Support in performing activities of daily living skills such as meal preparation, eating, grooming and dressing
• Utilizes assistive devices (e.g. wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) or assists with walking
• Accompanies participants during community activities.
• Participate in treatment programs as stated in the IPP or ISP, as directed
• Assists participants with their medications as needed
• Reports maintenance or home repair issues to the supervisor in-charge in a timely manner
• Implements and collects data on participant specific programs and maintains participant records

  

Position Requirements: 

• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
• Good interpersonal skills; positive attitude, patient and helpful
• Ability to operate assistive devices including Hoyer lift, wheelchair, walker and gait belt
• Ability to intermittently lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs., with minimal assistance
• Current work clearances include, but are not limited to, PE, initial 2-step PPD, annual PPD, CPR, First Aid/AED, criminal history, APS & CAN registries, FBI fingerprinting and a driver’s abstract with an acceptable level of infractions. Hepatitis B vaccination optional but recommended
• Must have a current driver’s license
• Smart phone required
