POSITION DESCRIPTION
Provide oversight support for review of large and/or complex equipment and/or system modifications, and facility design and/or construction work package related deliverables:
• Provide construction work package quality and technical review.
• Verify recorded discrepancies discovered during work package design and execution reviews.
• Resolve discrepancies discovered during work package design and execution reviews.
• Perform Engineering Surveillance/Oversight of A&E Design Firm deliverables, practices and procedures for compliance to SRPPF Project requirements.
• Perform Engineering Assessments to validate SRNS Engineering work processes and SRNS prepared engineering deliverables maintain compliance to SRPPF Project requirements.
• Prepare and issue reports to document results of Surveillance and/or Assessment related task assignments.
• Other duties as assigned by SRNS management.
• Occasional travel is required.
Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS. Most of the work will be performed using SRNS computer systems and associated databases.

​​​​​EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years quality control / quality assurance experience or High School Diploma (or GED) with 20 years quality control / quality assurance experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Practical experience in quality control, quality assurance, work control, materials management, civil/structural, mechanical, maintenance, construction or related areas preferred.
Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk-downs of the job site for engineering work being performed. These walk-downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances over a half mile, and climbing ladders to access remote areas.

Candidate must have:
• The ability to monitor and validate quality of work package / construction reviews for the SRPPF Project.
• Experience in quality control / assurance execution in nuclear (DOE preferred) or other industry executing line-item construction projects.
• Practical knowledge of construction and operational approaches/strategies required for nuclear (DOE preferred) or other industry executing line-item construction projects especially the SRPPF and/or MOX facility.
• Experience in the development, review, issuance, and execution of work control packages.
• Experience in reviewing various discipline Engineering deliverables for conformance to specified design input requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills as to establish and cultivate positive working relationships and interfaces with both internal and external customers.
• Demonstrate knowledge of DOE, SRNS, and SRS operating policies, rules, and regulations preferred.

Desired Qualifications
• Preferred: Experience with SRS Systems: MOX Documentum and Site Tracking, Analysis, & Reporting (STAR), as well as proficiency in commercial software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat is required.
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation is desired but not required.
• Preferred: Previous SRS and/or SRPPF/MOX experience and working knowledge of SRNS and/or SRPPF processes and procedures is required.

LOCATION
Savannah River Site
Aiken, SC
Position will be primarily performed at SRS and various off-site locations as needed.

The Savannah River Site (SRS), a 310 square mile (198,046 acres) Department of Energy site, is located in the sand-hills region of South Carolina. It encompasses parts of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River and Georgia. SRS is close to several cities, including Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. It is also within a few hours of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Greenville and Charlotte.

The work schedule will be a nominal 40-hour work week but can be part-time or with interruption between on-site requirements dependent on the support requirements necessary for the project. It is estimated that each standard year will consist of two-thousand and eighty hours. Ability to work a schedule that includes weekend days.
