Lab Technician

We have a contract opportunity for a Lab Tech in Valdosta Georgia. This position is initially approved for 6 months and could be extended.

Pay Rate: $19.00/Hr.

Schedule:
4 days on 4 days off (normal schedule). Shift is not yet determined. We do not rotate once the shift is determined that will be the permanent shift. Would need to be available to work weekends, holidays, scheduled overtime, and emergency overtime if needed.

Job Description:

• Prepare process and finished product samples; perform analytical testing using instrumental, wet chemistry procedures, and record results using computerized data systems.
• Performs daily process monitoring tests throughout the plant as assigned.
• Maintains samples of tested product to confirm test results.
• Documents results of all testing procedures and promptly notifies operations of required adjustments.
• Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Understands most production processes required in the production of product and may make recommendations to operators to achieve product quality.
• Performs light maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment.
• Maintains records of the results of testing procedures and inputs such data into computer.
• Maintains adequate supplies used for testing procedures and notifies the supervisor of the need to re-order such supplies.
• Continually compares equipment readouts with samples of standards as required to ensure that all systems are operating accurately.
• Maintains a neat and clean working area, washing equipment and placing equipment in the proper storage areas.
• Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment and successfully completes all safety certification requirements.
• Maintains awareness and adheres to FDA, GMP, BATF, EPA, OSHA, and company guidelines.

Education: 2 or more years of experience or a Science degree

Requirements:

1. Good attendance history.
2. Excellent safety record and awareness.
3. Demonstrates sufficient computer skills to utilize lab instrument operation programs.
4. Familiarity with commercial software applications (Excel, Word)
5. Experience with lab documentation.
6. Experience operating standard lab equipment (i.e., pH meter, balances, and spectrophotometer)
7. Demonstrates sufficient math skills to perform calculations associated with lab testing.
8. Ability to lift to 40 lbs. and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
