Job Description
Leads and/or supervises project teams within their own work unit or department which have financial and operational risk to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of upgrades such as a project to upgrade endpoint protection software on all managed computers or replace all layer two switching equipment that is obsolete in government. (Mandatory)
2. Supervises, sets priorities and monitors the efficiency of a team of technical analysts in a given area, ensuring that users’ needs and requirements are met and service levels are attained. (Mandatory)
3. Modifies or enhances databases, programs, networks, administration tools or electronic tools to improve systems to meet users’ needs. (Mandatory)
4. Provides technical advice to Technical Analysts to assist in the more complex, tier 2 support by troubleshooting and repairing hardware (computers, servers, print devices, peripherals, telecom equipment, and other equipment), infrastructure (networks, virtual desktop infrastructure) or software (web based applications, databases,
productivity software, cloud computing) implementing corrective action to ensure timely resolution of users’ IT issues.
5. Maintains and monitors servers and related hardware, software or local area networks to ensure consistent connectivity and accessibility to the internet, intranet, printers and backed up files and systems.
6. Provides specialized technical installation services to clients for hardware including computers, networks, print devices, telecom equipment, or other IT equipment such as network adaptors and backup units to ensure an efficient response to the user’s technology needs.
7. Analyzes hardware/software problems and system crashes. Designs and recommends solutions in the incident and problems management system in order to facilitate the monitoring of trends, recurring issues and service delivery.
8. Provides specialized advice and training to users on the optimal use of computer equipment and software to increase effective and efficient use by clients.
9. May perform some or all of the duties above and any other related duties as assigned.
