About Cognizant’s Digital Engineering Practice:

At Cognizant Digital Engineering, a small cross functional team comprised of a Product Manager, an Architect, Full-Stack Developers, UI/UX designers and Big Data analysts builds higher quality software faster siloed individuals working independently.   Small, nimble engineering teams generate collective empathy and comradery, thus increasing their ability to anticipate unforeseen development scope changes and maintain high quality deliverables.  Across our US Studio system or within client development sites, our Digital Engineering teams ideate and develop innovative cloud-based solutions following a Lean-Agile process with DevOps culture. Working in Cognizant Digital Engineering provides DevOps engineers consistent opportunities to push digital boundaries while growing their exposure to transformational technologies.

The Role:

Cognizant is looking for an experienced and innovative Software Developer to serve our diverse base of global clients.  We are looking for an experienced software developer who will provide internal process optimization and automation support. The goal of this role is to reduce manual efforts in repetitive tasks while reducing error rates, resulting in monetary and time savings for the client. Individuals in this role are given full responsibility to learn the client’s challenges and needs, architect and evaluate multiple solutions, implement, and document the automation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the client stakeholder to understand their needs and challenges.
  • Architect solutions by creating flow charts and other documentation (e.g. presentations)
  • Implement automated solutions into new and/or existing processes by using complex Google Sheets formulas, as well as Google Apps Script to connect with gSuite applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Forms, etc)
  • Create dashboard for data analysis / Business Intelligence; workflows within Google Plx suite to automate processes; able to handle workspace of tables.
  • Test thoroughly suggested/implemented solutions.
  • Create detailed documentation of automation efforts for internal and external purposes.
  • Capture and maintain automation metrics to present value added to client.
  • Present proposed/final solutions to the client and senior leadership in an effective and clear manner
  • Improve system/process quality by proactively identifying issues and common patterns and developing standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • University degree, ideally related to Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 8+ years of work experience in Software engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in Project Management/Coordination.
  • Excellent knowledge in Google Apps Script and extensive experience in developing automation solutions (by connecting multiple systems), ideally within Google Suite.
  • Excellent knowledge and hands on experience working with complex Google Sheets formulas.
  • Ability to use API documentation to interface with client systems.
  • Strong applied SQL and/or BigQuery knowledge.
  • Familiar with code change processes.
  • Experience in client facing role with responsibility to independently drive and present deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills and ability to professionally communicate with senior leadership.
  • Extremely detail oriented and ability to apply critical thinking.
  • Experience architecting and implementing software solutions based on abstract client ideas.
  • Experience analyzing processes to find areas for optimization and/or automation.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Very proficient in Google Suite (Sheets/Docs/Slides etc).
  • Up to date knowledge on emerging technologies/industry trends and ability to apply them into operations and activities.
  • Experience/knowledge in Java/J2EE, Java Script, SQL, Python, Linux, ABAP, IoT, Interfacing with Cloud, Mobile Data module, Angular.

Additional Skills/Qualifications (preferred):

  • Familiarity with client-vendor relationship and experience working in a vendor role.
  • Familiarity with Google internal tools and systems.
  • Experience with a bug/ticket tracking system.
  • Knowledge in Purchasing processes.
  • Experience translating customer feedback/requests into technical requirements.
  • Experience creating and tracking automation metrics.
  • Experience creating dashboards and discussing key outcomes with senior leadership.
  • Experience with LucidChart.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $43,900.00 to $114,800.00 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
