Connexus Energy is seeking a detail orientated, customer service specialist with strong communication skills to serve as the primary point of contact for our design and engineering customers, including electricians, developers, builders, consultants, government entities, and internal Connexus design and engineering staff. In this role, you will be responsible for managing commercial new services, service changes, plats, and lighting project requests. Your primary objective will be to coordinate work, resolve issues, manage expectations, and ultimately enhance member and customer relations. This position requires a Monday - Friday schedule with flexibility of a hybrid work environment, working from home up to a few days a week.

Key Responsibilities & Results:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of commercial applications for new electrical services, changes and plat developments to meet construction timelines effectively.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for new members, explaining the construction process, assisting with determining service size, providing rate information, informing members of responsibilities, and processing contracts as needed.
  • Facilitate the billing process for aid-to-construction charges by:
    • Generating Contribution to Aid of Construction (CIAC).
    • Printing and mailing quotes, invoices and returns.
    • Processing and posting payments.
    • Calculating and billing overtime charges on transformer upgrades, when applicable.
  • Support the Business Process Specialist in handling project cost reversals.
  • Coordinate transformer upgrades, disconnects and reconnects with the member and scheduling.
  • Manage all lighting requests, including plat developments, residential and commercial properties, and government agency requests to ensure accurate data and billing is recorded.
  • Oversee foreign attachment data by processing requests, creating work orders, and maintaining accurate permit records.
  • Process internal customers’ work order requests for hazardous conditions, rejected poles, line inspections, and foreign attachment violations.
  • Advise members on Demand Energy Response (DER) programs, demonstrating familiarity with solar, electric vehicles, and load management, such as controlled irrigation.

Required Talents, Skills, Education, Expertise:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years customer service experience
  • Two years of experience related to electricity and/or electrical construction or related experience
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and work order software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Talents, Skills, Education, Expertise:

  • Associates degree
  • Knowledge of basic electricity and 3-phase voltages, transformers, wire size and energy usage
  • Knowledge of construction environment (e.g., road, building, utility)
  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code
  • Knowledge of demand and how electric meters measure demand
