The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced Structural Analysis Engineer to join their growing team in Berkeley, MO. This position will provide static and durability/damage tolerance (DaDT) structural analysis and documentation in support of various tactical fighter programs.

The candidate should possess strong structural analysis skills and be proficient with classical solution, as well as, finite element software. Experience with composites and performing metallic durability and damage tolerance analyses is desired. The candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to work with little oversight. Must be able to plan and execute tasks within constraints imposed by internal and external customer schedules. Strong leadership skills, experience leading projects, and experience with mentoring and teaching is highly desirable.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance

  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied

  • Supports in-service products by leading investigations into failures and analyzing improvements

  • Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort

  • Works under minimal direction

  • Performs other duties as assigned

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 3+ years of experience working with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience working with structural analysis on aerospace products

  • 5+ years of experience with structural analysis on military aerospace products

  • 5+ years of Experience using StressCheck, NASTRAN, Abaqus, Mechanical/Simulate, or BEASY

  • 5+ years of utilizing fatigue and fracture analysis software (i.e. AFGROW, NASGRO, etc.)

  • Experience in a military aircraft sustainment environment

  • Experience with application of classical stress intensity solutions

  • Experience with developing stress intensity factor solutions by means of Green’s Function technique and/or Weight Function technique or FEA Techniques

  • Experience with computer programming

  • Experience working on MRB (Materials Review Board) activities related to aircraft structures.

  • Experience influencing stakeholders to drive measurable business outcomes

  • Current active US Government Secret Clearance

Typical Education/ Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
