THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will provide instruction to inmates through on-the job vocational training. The instructor assigns and participates in routine and specialized tasks performed by the inmates in different areas of food preparation. You will ensure proper control over inmates by enforcing security regulations and inspecting all food service areas, equipment, and food to ensure it meets safety and sanitation standards. You will also conduct performance reviews of the inmate workers.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are on a rotating shift schedule, Sunday - Saturday.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753.00 (before taxes).
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
