Job Summary

The Director of Technical Operations(Tech Ops) Productiondelivers on our Purpose by maintaining the supervision of the B/C Check Maintenance, Line Maintenance, RON, and Shop Departments for the region assigned. This role will work across multiple departments and cross-functional Teams to align Maintenance Department activities within Tech Ops as well as across the flight network. The Director Tech Ops Production is detail-oriented and a strong leader, who is ready to drive the future of Southwest's Technical Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accomplishment and appropriate documentation of SWA documents necessary for compliance with FARs and FAA directives for aircraft operated by SWA as they apply to the Maintenance Department

  • Supervise Managers of Maintenance

  • Ensure maintenance program requirements are met through proper staffing levels, equipment, and facilities

  • Establish and implement maintenance policies and procedures to ensure fairness and equality

  • Direct formal, on-the-job, and safety training programs

  • Coordinate, with Maintenance Operations Department, scheduled maintenance to provide maximum flying utilization

  • Prepare and maintain annual capital, operations, and personnel budgets for the assigned Maintenance region

  • Responsible for establishing adequate Safety, maintenance policies, and procedures for DAL Heavy Maintenance

  • Supervise and set the direction for Heavy Maintenance Managers and Manager Production Control

  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming

  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems

  • Skilled in understanding and applying the information to contribute to the organization's strategic plan

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand

  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Required: Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)

  • Required: Advanced level Business Acumen and seasoned and specialized knowledge in Aircraft Maintenance Management

  • Preferred: Experience in ETOPS

  • Preferred: Understanding of labor and the bid process

  • Preferred: Change management experience

Licensing/Certification

  • Required: Current Airframe and Powerplant License

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Meet requirements of FAR 119.65 and FAR 119.67

Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from $175,150.00 per year to $194,600.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
