THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Quehanna is seeking a Corrections Food Service Supervisor to oversee our dynamic team of instructors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will supervise subordinate staff and inmate workers in the performance of routine and specialized food service work. You will oversee large-scale food preparation by coordinating, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed in food preparation and production, including serving, baking, meat cutting, and sanitation. You will maintain order and discipline among inmate workers; establish work procedures; schedule work and allocate staff to meet time requirements; and maintain records and reports relating to menu, recipes, orders, requisitions, inventory, food service personnel and inmate help.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM, with rotating days off.
  • This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Corrections Food Service Instructor; or
  • Three years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation, which included one year of lead work experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which included one year of lead work experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
