Forest Technician (Seasonal) - Clear Creek Forest District

THE POSITION

You will provide technical support to the foresters in their forestry duties and assist in the management of state forest lands and private forest lands. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In your role, you will support the Clear Creek District staff with technical forestry tasks to improve forest management on state and other forested lands. This involves aiding Foresters in collecting field data for stand analysis and forest management plans. Additionally, you will assist in stewardship practices like tree planting, timber stand improvement, and wildlife habitat management, as well as wildfire prevention and suppression activities as directed by management.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• This position requires overtime and travel as needed.
  
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• An associate's degree in forest technology; or
• Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Conditions of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
