As the Global Brand & Creative Strategy Design Manager – Editorial Design, you will lead the visual and creative direction for our priority and flagship editorial content across various platforms, ensuring narratives are effectively translated into visuals that are both on-brand and resonate with our audience. You will supervise external designers and freelancers, offering guidance, inspiration, and feedback to guarantee the highest quality of design output. The role is instrumental in maintaining and evolving the company publication design systems, guidelines, and best practices to drive brand consistency, while offering creative flexibility.

As part of the Global Creative Strategy & Design function within the Global Brand & Creative Strategy team, you will collaborate with key stakeholders across editorial, digital marketing, and social media on the creative production needs for global thought leadership content pieces and supporting assets

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead art direction and creative advisory for priority and flagship editorial content pieces. Develop innovative design concepts and ensure their effective translation across various channels.
  • Maintain and evolve design systems, standards, and best practices to achieve brand consistency and scalability, while also allowing creative flexibility, across all publication materials.
  • Oversee and regularly update publication guidelines and templates, incorporating new formats such as horizontal PDFs and interactive PDFs, to remain at the cutting edge of design trends.
  • Expand the company’s data visualization system to ensure seamless storytelling and collaboration across platforms with other Global Marketing & Communications teams such as editorial, digital marketing, and social media.
  • Select on-brand images and photography for editorial content pieces.
  • Optimize the image and photo selection processes to a state where you oversee strategic photo selection and provide guidance on the use and direction of GenAI imagery, serving as the primary point of contact for brand photography and the image library.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to evaluate the impact and efficacy of creative outputs, providing insights and actionable recommendations to enhance quality Guide and inspire external designers and freelancers, offering direction and timely feedback to ensure the delivery of high-quality design outputs.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field
  • At least 4+ years of experience in editorial design, art direction, or a creative leadership role, preferably in a global or multi-platform environment
  • Proficiency in design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma. Familiarity with HTML5 and content creation platforms such as WoodWing Studio is a plus.
  • Strong portfolio that showcases expertise in layout design, typography, data visualization, and visual storytelling
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and inspire a team
