Job Description
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Lead and design selected customer projects from early design stages to a finished prototype and full production
Interface with customers and internal departments
Interface with suppliers regarding design and cost negotiations
Plan and create multi-level bill of materials and work instructions based on the estimates and the processes involved
Design power distribution systems using a mix of third-party components and customized fabricated parts to generate a 3-dimensional model with tools such as SolidWorks
Requirements and Attributes:
UL 891 or UL 1558 knowledge required
Excellent with engineering studies and calculations such as load flow, short circuit analysis, motor starting, relay coordination, arc flash, and grounding studies
Good working knowledge of traditional metal fabrication methods
Ability to work directly with customers as technical contact for a project
Understand the process of metal plating and powder coating
Understand drafting standards, geometric tolerances, and interpretations of various standards
Understanding of process control, capabilities, and various methods of manufacturing preferred
Understanding of machine shop practices, processes, tooling, and theory of machining preferred
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related STEM degree or 5 years of equivalent experience
Experience with specifying and fundamental understanding of electrical equipment such as power distribution systems, rectifiers/converters, large power transformers, switchgear (LV and MV), busbars, control systems, MCCs, protection systems, batteries, and controls hardware
Experience with NEC, NFPA, IEC, NEMA, ANSI, IEEE, UL, CSA, CE, and BS standards
Experience in metal fabrication such as short-run stamping, laser cutting, break forming, and light assembly a plus
