Job Description
We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity in the Government industry for an Accounting Assistant in Hemet, California. You will join a team that is responsible for various accounting and administrative functions. Your skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suites, accounting functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing functions, cash activity, and administrative office skills will be essential in this role.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile accounts including reviewing credit card receipts, matching receipts to bank statements, and coding invoices for Accounts Payable.
• Perform a variety of administrative support activities for the department such as composing correspondence, interpreting and explaining policy, maintaining files, and sorting, opening, and screening mail.
• Research, summarize and analyze information; compile data and prepare reports; schedule and coordinate meetings; prepare agendas; take minutes and handle distribution; attend meetings representing the department.
• Authorize designated expenditures; monitor expenditures and perform simple analysis on accounts; prepare special and recurring budgetary reports as needed.
• Screen phone calls and visitors, directing to appropriate staff as necessary.
• Ensure the smooth running of the department by handling other duties as assigned.• Minimum of one year experience in an accounting role or similar position
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting functions
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Familiarity with billing functions and cash activity handling
• Strong administrative office skills
• Ability to work in a government setting
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred
