Our client is looking for a Sr. Database DBA to join their team in the Washington, DC area!

This position is hybrid requiring 2 days a week onsite.
This position requries an Active Public Trust clearance


Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of related experience as a database administrator, specializing in supporting Oracle and SQL environment.

Duties: Designs the database server architecture, to include installation, maintenance, and configuration. Performs troubleshooting and resolution management. Provides support for advanced user jobs and analytics.

Job Role Specific Requirements:
1. Install, configure, and manage SQL Server instances (2019/2017/2016/2014/2012) in both prod/dev/test environments.
2. Deploy and manage SQL Server on various platforms, including VMWare, Azure (IaaS/PaaS), and on-premises.
3. Build and manage Azure managed instances and Azure managed databases.
4. Facilitate database migration from on-premises environments to Azure.
5. Execute SQL database upgrades, migrations, backups, and restores.
6. Administer user access by provisioning SQL logins and users based on project requirements.
7. Configure and troubleshoot database Always-on availability groups (AG) and AG-related issues.
8. Establish AG listeners and add databases to Always On while handling failover scenarios.
9. Implement and troubleshoot database mirroring solutions.
10. Configure and troubleshoot database log shipping setups.
11. Set up and troubleshoot database transaction replication configurations.
12. Manage SQL clusters and resolve cluster-related issues.
13. Monitor database conditions, proactively rebuild indexes, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
14. Utilize monitoring and performance tuning skills to schedule automated activities, including database health checks, disk space monitoring, job alerts, index monitoring, and statistics tracking.
15. Configure database mail for SQL job alerts.
16. Install and configure SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including report deployment and server security management.
17. Apply Service Packs to SQL Server versions (2008R2, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2019) and patches to Windows Server versions (2003, 2003 R2, 2012, 2019).
18. Create and manage incident/changes using the Service Now ticketing system.
19. Provide exceptional on-demand customer service.
20. Collaborate with application teams to troubleshoot application issues from a database perspective.
21. Demonstrate expertise in Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
22. Implement SQL Server Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) compliance.
