Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for the physical operation of the plant and all electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment therein, including the facilities’ structure and appearance. This includes installation, maintenance, repair, and re-location of all mechanical aids such as cranes, hoists, air lines and drops, power tools, chop guns, spray booths, etc. The position is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all vehicles charged to the plant, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, tractors, stills, and lawn mowers. Manages capital expenditure projects associated with new/replacement equipment needs within the plant. The position will require contracting or working with outside specialists in some areas, such as building contractors, electrical contractors, environmental specialists, and various inspectors to ascertain that all equipment meets regulatory standards. It will provide all facets of supervision to the maintenance/housekeeping/security/tooling staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees all tasks associated with the maintenance of buildings and grounds, including renovations, equipment, expansions, and improvements.

  • Receives and reviews maintenance requests and prioritizes maintenance activities based on urgency and availability of resources.

  • Inspects buildings and grounds regularly to identify current and potential maintenance needs.

  • Maintains records and documentation related to repairs made.

  • Oversees the entire life cycle of capital projects from speculation to purchasing of materials.

  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required:  High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in site maintenance management. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Ability to drive strategic direction.

  • Above average written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent decision-making ability.

  • Effectively lead and mentor subordinates and others.

  • Above average ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others.

  • Above average skill level with Microsoft Office Suite of programs.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimal

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular computer work, walking, standing, and sitting.

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

  • Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
