We are seeking a skilled Machinist Shop Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for precision machining. While prior experience with metalwork is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate. This position involves operating various machinery and equipment in our machine shop to fabricate and refine metal parts according to specifications. Hours are Monday-Friday 8a-5p. Pay is $16+ depending on experience.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Sand Blasting Cabinet Operation:

   • Operate sand blasting equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces for further processing.
   • Ensure proper handling and disposal of abrasive materials.

2. Band Saw Operation:

   • Safely operate band saw machinery to cut metal stock to required dimensions.
   • Monitor equipment for any signs of malfunction and perform routine maintenance as needed.

3. Grinding:

   • Utilize grinding equipment to refine and shape metal parts to meet precise specifications.
   • Maintain quality standards by inspecting finished products for accuracy and surface finish.

4. Core Making Machine Operation:

   • Operate core making machinery to produce cores used in casting processes.
   • Follow standard procedures for core assembly and removal.

5. Machine Shop Tasks:

   • Assist in various tasks within the machine shop, including setup, tool changes, and material handling.
   • Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in metalworking is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
• Good mathematical skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings and measurements accurately.
• Familiarity with drill press and other machine shop equipment is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and operate machinery safely.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
