Job Title: Production Operator

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Production Lead/Supervisor/Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The primary functions performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving minimal specialized skill or skill that can be instructed or taught. Typically loads and unloads materials, products, or parts.

Supports and creates effective teams, units and envrionments through a personal commitment to the Company's vision, mission, and values.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Major Responsibilities, including the following:

  • Performs duties in assigned areas under limited or direct supervision.
  • Follows approved work instructions. Demonstrates proficiency in basic skills and routine tasks necessary to run numerous operations in a department.
  • Loads and unloads materials, parts, or products manually or by mechanized means.
  • Transfers finished products and raw materials about plant as required.
  • Delivers production items to designated work areas for processing.
  • Cleans around work areas.
  • Knows and follows all safety requirements; strives to maintain a safe work environment and reports potential hazards to lead or supervisor.
  • Assists other production workers in production activities.
  • Reads and understands blueprints, routers, work instructions and inspection procedures and determines the most effective method of work.
  • Verifies quality by using basic measuring equipment such as micrometers or calipers. Identifies and segregates rejected parts.
  • Adequately documents work.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); six months to one year experience and or training preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, routers and written procedures.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as circumference and to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
