Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of effective product and process execution engineering and for the effectiveness of the Domestic Manufacturing of Weinbrenner footwear through standardization of the production process using Lean Six Sigma tools to eliminate waste, improve throughput, lead time, and repeatability, and maximize the performance of the shop floor.

Employees are expected to support Weinbrenner's core values through the completion of duties and responsibilities. In this specific role, some expectations include:

  • Seeks out and investigates new manufacturing machinery, processes, and technologies related to WSC products; evaluates for suitability at WSC.

  • Develop and implement factory layout and manufacturing methods to maximize raw material usage, effectively utilize available labor resources, and promote efficient product flow throughout the production process.

  • Develop and implement production process controls to ensure consistent product quality. Develop production standards to be used throughout WSC manufacturing and sourcing locations, ensuring consistent product regardless of origin of manufacture.

  • Review and adjust production line loading for smooth product flow to effectively meet takt time.

  • Review labor times versus labor standards for factory areas and personnel to determine production efficiency and layout effectiveness.

  • Work with Product Development and other departments on new designs and programs, maximizing product manufacturability while maintaining design intent.

  • Promotes and operates within a Continuous Improvement environment to reduce waste, improve efficiencies, increase throughput, and create a more positive work environment.

  • Help to ensure that all new machines, methods, and processes if implemented are put into effective use and goals achieved.

  • Complies with and enforces WSC's QMS/ISO system.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must work on-site. This is not a remote position.
  • Requires education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering and 5 years' related experience; or an associate degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering or other engineering degree with 10 years related experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     • Ability to stay current with updated manufacturing engineering technology.
    • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma.
    • Advanced Computer Skills.
    • Ability to learn and research Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP).
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to pay close attention to detail, prioritize work, and coordinate various activities.
    • Ability to write technical reports.
    • Strong relationships-building and collaboration skills.
    • Requires education equivalent to a undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering.
    • Knowledge of production machinery, processes, and standards.
    • Above average verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to use complex algebraic calculations
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions through the interpretation of a variety of technical documents and variables.
