OVERVIEW

Provides foreign language interpreting services for refugees who speak languages not spoken by other staff in a variety of educational and community settings including case management, medical, mental health, vocational, and social services. Documents interpreting time and activities for billing purposes. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides interpreting services between a foreign language and English in a variety of educational and community settings including medical, mental health, vocational, social services, transportation, and arrivals/pick-ups at airport, etc.
  • Assists with in-house and walk-in interpreting services
  • Documents interpreting time for billing purposes
  • Meet the productivity requirements
  • Maintains high professional standards
  • Maintains client confidentiality

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Fluent in languages required based on needs of the refugees being served
  • Proven strong communication skills - oral and written are clear, concise, and in an organized fashion using appropriate style, grammar, and tone

REGULATORY

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle report
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1 year of interpreting experience, community interpreting preferred (1 year of experience equals 20-25 hours per week for average of 50 weeks per year)
