Position Summary

The refrigeration lab technician will support the engineer and lab team in developing and testing commercial refrigerated display cases in a testing laboratory. They will be responsible for assisting with installation and setup and for completing all specified testing and recording.

Essential Duties/Job Responsibilities:

• Use job specific tools and equipment to assist with the setup of commercial refrigeration equipment, including placement of fixtures, connection of refrigerant piping, water drain piping, connection of power, and condensing unit and control wiring in order to test functionality of the unit and its components.
• Utilize Ultrasite. HOBOware, and Microsoft business products to collect, save, and disseminate laboratory data.
• Help maintain lab testing equipment, machinery, and HVAC systems.
• Maintain detailed testing notes, records, and log sheets to meet various testing standards.
• Complete tests on units while they are running based on specifications.
• Identify, investigate, and troubleshoot any malfunctions noted in any of the cases or components.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:

• High School Degree or GED
• HVAC/electrical trade school a plus; HVAC certification a plus
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
• Ability to work independently within a team environment as well as collaborate with others
• Strong computer and data entry skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to skillfully and safely operate job specific tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
• Ability to operate basic hand tools and pressurized equipment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; communicate regularly with designers, engineers, and other team members
• Diagnostic and problem solving skills
• Brazing skills a plus

Experience:

• A minimum of two years’ experience working with refrigeration and/or electrical systems.
• Experience in a light manufacturing setting preferred.

Requirements:

• Work environment and working conditions are reflective of a light manufacturing setting and research/testing lab.
• Perform work while standing for duration of shift.
• Must also be able to lift and move (push, pull, carry) items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to raise arms above shoulders regularly and freely rotate arms/shoulders to lift/move parts.
• Must be able to kneel, crouch, stoop, bend and squat when needed.
• Work will include repetitive hand, arm, wrist, and leg motion.
• Will need hand and finger flexibility and dexterity and excellent eyesight with or without corrective lenses.
