Job Description:

*JOB LOCATION IS LOS ALAMOS NM

An authorized person who ensures the prescribed measures are taken to prevent compromise of safeguards and security interests. Security Escorts are those authorized personnel who hold a DOE Q-Clearance and have been designated the responsibility of accompanying personnel who lack access authorization into the Y-12 Complex Protected Area (PA) and/or Limited Area (LA) to ensure adherence to the prescribed security measures. The Security Escort will be trained in the requirements of the Construction Escorting Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Protect Department of Energy and Corporate/Client facilities and property.
  • Direct collaboration with client to assess needs.
  • Escort non-cleared personnel into limited, protected and exclusion areas.
  • Direct interfacing with Client or Host Physical Security personnel.
  • Monitor and enforce safety and security policies.
  • Interface badging process, including training and briefings for government facilities.

Qualifications:

  • MUST be in possession of Current DOE Q Clearance or have been in possession of Q clearance within the last TWO years for eligibility of Reinstatement. This is a Requirement of employment.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to qualify for Human Reliability Program (HRP) if required.
  • Possess current 40 Hour Hazardous Waste Operations (Hazwoper) certification.
  • Ability to arrive at work at the designated time in proper uniform, dressed appropriately for proper working conditions and carrying needed, issued equipment.
  • Ability to carry out general and special orders for post assigned.
  • Ability to communicate via radio, telephone and orally according to orders.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written instructions and be able to clearly communicate instructions in English to uncleared personnel being escorted
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license if operating a vehicle
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk to and from job sites, climb stairs, use fingers to feel objects or controls, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and reach with arms and hands.
  • Meet, greet, and interact professionally with employees, clients, hosts and the public.
  • Ability to maintain poise and self-control under stress.
  • Full Time candidates must be able to work flexible hours, including second and third shifts, weekends and holidays when required.
  • Job conditions may require working indoors or outdoors in hot, cold, wet, and/or noisy environments
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Successfully complete all training and obtain all required permits, licenses, certifications and security clearances for the site.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
