Position will be open until filled.

GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, processes reports and other legal information and documents for the San Angelo Police Department (SAPD); enters data in automated records management systems; provides information within scope of authority.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs basic clerical and administrative duties in accordance with SAPD procedures and City policy, including data entry, record keeping, and maintaining files.
  • Receives, verifies and enters SAPD data into database systems; copies and distributes reports.
  • Provides information and assistance to the public and others having business with SAPD within scope of authority; may collect fees and issue permits, and balance cash drawers.
  • Processes reports, documents and forms; reviews documents and data for compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintains the absolute confidentiality of all records and information.
  • Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; and one year of clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid driver license with a good driving record.
  • Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph is required.
  • Typing test required.

Required Knowledge of:

  • City policies and procedures.
  • Basic regulations governing the release of information from law enforcement agency records.

Required Skill in:

  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Entering information into a computer system with speed and accuracy.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
