Upscale Dining Server:
The primary responsibility of Upscale Dining Server is to provide prompt, courteous service to restaurant patrons and ensure guests are satisfied with their dining experience.
Essential Functions
- Greets everyone at all times. Smiles, makes eye contact and verbally greets guests and coworkers from arrival to the property through departure.
- Provides enthusiastic customer service while interacting with guests and co-workers.
- Provides timely, accurate and courteous service to all guests while maintaining a clean, organized and safe work environment.
- Engages guests in conversations regarding menu offerings and products.
- Follows all cash handling procedures as described in department specific cash handling procedures and internal controls.
- Assures all requests are properly rung on POS systems.
- Adheres to all service standards.
- Abides all laws pertaining to service and sale of alcoholic beverages as provided in property alcohol management program.
- Performs all duties as described in assigned sidework sheets.
- Acts as a role model and presents oneself as a credit to JACK Thistledown Racino and encourages others to do the same.
- Adheres to all department and company policies and procedures.
- Serves guests at assigned station quickly, friendly, and efficiently.
- Familiarizes self with all items on the menu and daily specials to be able to make the best suggestions and assist guests with ordering food items.
- Utilizes suggestive selling for up sell of restaurant appetizers, beverages, and desserts.
- Records all food and beverage ordered items on guest check and inputs into POS system.
- Obtains beverages from prescribed locations and serves guests according to established procedures.
- Observes guests to fulfill any additional requests and to note when meal is finished.
- Itemizes, totals, and presents check to guest for payment to Cashier.
- Assists Bus Persons as needed in cleaning and re-setting tables to make them immediately available for waiting guests.
- Collaborates with other Food Servers in a cooperative manner to ensure efficient service to all guests.
- Presents and opens wine, or serves cocktails to guests.
- Continually monitors station for guest satisfaction.
- Performs all related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of all drinks, recipes and garnishes.
- Able to balance large serving trays.
- Knowledge of Point of Sale systems
- Requires cash handling skills.
- Ability to be flexible with scheduling needs.
- Excellent guest service skills.
- Clean and neat appearance.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Work requires teamwork with other staff members.
- Work requires an attention to detail.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.
- Respond to visual and aural cues.
- Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
- Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises and bright lights.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives.
- Ability to speak distinctly and persuasively.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years fine dining experience preferred.
- Work requires a strong understanding of gourmet dining atmosphere
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior restaurant experience required.
Required Certification/License
- Must be able to obtain an Ohio Lottery Commission Non-Gaming License
