POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Camp Reed Maintenance staff provides general maintenance work for YMCA Camp Reed including but not limited to; project work, inventory management, and ensuring any issues are reported to the Camp Reed Property Manager. The Camp Reed Maintenance Staff promotes smooth operations and safety of staff, campers, and guests at YMCA Camp Reed to provide an exceptional Camp Reed experience for all.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Perform routine, preventative maintenance and project work as requested by the Camp Reed Property Manager.
  2. Ensures the proper operation, maintenance, and functionality of all mechanical systems, vehicles, and equipment systems.
  3. Order parts, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and keep accurate accounting records of purchases.
  4. Operate and maintain Camp Reed mechanical equipment as directed by the Property Manager, general campgrounds maintenance, and complete other facility repairs as needed.
  5. In conjunction with Camp Reed Property Manager, performs snow removal, de-icing of facility walkways, and other Camp Reed facilities needed for winter operations.
  6. At the direction of the Camp Reed Property Manager, inspect fire extinguishers, emergency lighting systems, generators, or other Camp Reed equipment to ensure all systems are functioning properly in accordance with applicable codes.
  7. Reports maintenance problems or conditions requiring special attention to the Camp Reed Property Manager in a timely manner.
  8. Operate vehicles to transport necessary supplies to and from Camp Reed.
  9. Role models the Camp Reed mission statement and YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with other staff, rental group users, campers, junior counselors, YMCA members, and the public.
  10. Knows, reviews, and applies all safety, emergency, and child abuse prevention policies and procedures, responding to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA protocol. Reports concerns promptly to Camp leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year of related equipment maintenance experience
  • Current Driver’s license and YMCA acceptable driving record
  • Completion of YMCA required trainings upon hire.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

STARTING PAY: $17.28-18.25/hr
