Summary/Objectives:

The Sales Associate - Cashier is responsible for supporting sales efforts of New to You management team. He/she also assists in sorting, stocking and staging sales items.

Essential Functions:

1. Greet customers in a polite, professional and cheerful manner and offer them assistance.

2. Guide customers who know what they want to the correct section or make suggestions to customers who are not completely sure of what they want.

3. Knowledge of products on the floor.

4.Support all backroom efforts as needed or requested to assure donated items are moved to the sales floor in a timely manner.

5. Assist in maintaining the front store areas to assure they are properly stocked, staged, neat, clean and orderly.

6. Sort, check, price, stock, and stage donated items.

7. Serve as cashier or support cashier as requested or needed. Responsible for accurate accounting of monies received and sales transactions.

Competency (knowledge, skills, abilities):

1. Demonstrated competencies in sales, products and service.

2. Knowledge of retail merchandising practices.

3. Ability to multi-task.

4. Solid communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. On a regular basis requires the ability to move and/or lift 50 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are flexible and are scheduled Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel:

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience:

High School degree or equivalent with one year of retail experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Associates degree with one to two years of retail experience.
