Top Notch is looking for a bilingual Lead Deck Builder/Log Crafter to join our team. A crew lead is responsible for job layout, time tracking, controlling labor hours to complete the job within bid, directing the crew in building, joining in with construction labor, communicating with the job estimator, and interfacing with clients on occasion. Crew leads should be able to work alone but thrive working on a team and with others. The position does entail working outside, using a draw knife to peel logs, using chainsaws, requires lifting 60 lbs., climbing ladders/heights, driving 1.5 hours one way to job sites, and dedication to completing the work and carrying through for both our clients and our employees. Compensation: $25-30/hr.

Schedule: 8-10 hour day shift, M-F.

Duties:

Production

o Supporting crew with a thorough overview of each new bid

o Compiling and delivering job records to office (receipts, change orders, checks, etc)

o Using bid versus actual cost data to prepare detailed job analysis

o Controlling costs and supporting crew to complete jobs at or under quoted hours

o Fabricating and installing rail, deck, and, log structures

o Maintaining site & yard organization throughout the work day

o Skilled & knowledgeable in most production techniques

o Knows tools & log products,

o Organize and produce work on the jobsite by cooperative leadership of co-workers

o Coordinate with production manager, estimator, customer, & crew.

o Analyzing required documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough project scope

o Purchasing materials and scheduling for sanitation and equipment rental on site.

o Layout job in an efficient manner based on bid

o Working onsite with crew to complete job (This is a hands-on labor position, not a managerial oversight position)

o Planning and ordering materials to ensure a good efficient start

Oversight & Development of Crew

o Building and overseeing the crew

o Fostering a positive work culture

o Help and support crew to enhance their skill set

o Moderate employee interaction and exemplify company values/culture

o Maintain an understanding of crew’s current projects and workload

o Encourage crew to ask questions

o Support crew members with problem solving

o Be professional and develop professionalism in others

o Communication is key – fix any breakdowns in communication between parties

o Making sure all crew members are engaged and involved on the projects

Data Analysis, & Office Processes

o Review crew hours to compare actual hours to current schedule.

o Correctly record T&M with forms, noted on paperwork/receipts, and on timecards.

o Assess completed job report actual numbers against job estimates. Identify potential reasons for failure/success on various sections.

o Answer phone calls, emails, and voicemail daily

o Deliver paperwork for finance division

o Monitoring operational costs to maintain or increase profit margins

o Ensuring adherence to company procedures and policies

o Analyze jobs to ensure proper job is being recorded

Client Interfacing

o Interact with clients to ensure their satisfaction

o Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding job status

o Reinforce site conditions so clients understand we value their space

o Taking site photos before, during, and after jobs to provide a unified understanding of the site.

Qualifications:

5 Years Carpentry Experience (required)

Bilingual (English required, Spanish preferred)

Ability to read blue prints (preferred)

Clean driving record (required)

Reliable vehicle (required)

Climb ladders & work from heights (required)

Work onsite or in yard (required)

References (required)
