Concrete Finisher

Job Duties and Responsibilites:

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in commercial, industrial, and government construction projects
• Perform manual work in preparing surfaces for various paving, structures and utilities
• Able to prepare area where the concrete will be poured. This involves cleaning the surface, removing debris, and ensuring proper drainage, construction of formwork to define the shape and dimensions of the concrete structure
• Concrete mixing and process, including aggregates, and other additives to achieve the desired consistency
• Properly use tools needed to finish the placed wet concrete, tools may include shovel, trowel, float, bull float, broom, rake, screed, etc.
• Knowledgeable with various tools and equipment, such as power trowels, concrete saws, and grinders, to assist in the finishing process, knowledge of how to properly use and maintain these tools
• Shovel wet concrete, finish, and generally assist in placing concrete as directed
• Fine grade fill to grades given by Foreman
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
• Safety is a critical aspect of job, following safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries
• Teamwork in concrete is essential, effective communication with supervisor, team members, sub-contractors
• Knowledgeable of concrete types, finishing techniques, and the ability to interpret construction plans and specifications
• Other duties as assigned

Skills:

• Good understanding of different concrete types
• Knowledge of concrete finishing techniques
• Read interpret construction plans and specifications
• Physical stamina; ability to stand, squat, bend in extreme outdoor weather conditions for 10-12 hours/day

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of experience in concrete work and finishing

Requirements:

• Must have valid driver's license
• Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening program.
• Subject to a background screening process
