Rockaway Beach Resort (RBR) and Conference Center is seeking a highly skilled General Manager to help us drive unparalleled guest and employee satisfaction. RBR desires a hands-on manager who will supervise our guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, event sales, and back office departments; including compliance and relevant operational processes.

Rockaway Beach Resort is located at 615 N Pacific Street in Rockaway Beach. It was for decades a condominium timeshare and was recently reorganized as a 38-unit boutique hotel and conference center as part of a larger initiative to bring business events to Tillamook County. We have several expanded positions to fill as we pivot our operations.

RBR consistently gets positive reviews for its courteous guest services, large units with bedrooms and kitchens, and our location right on the beach. We promote a work environment that gives staff the ability to learn new skills and work cross-functionally across departmental lines. Hospitality is our mission. Our ideal candidate has a track record of outstanding management experience, preferably in the lodging and hospitality industry. You understand servant leadership and take the initiative to exceed guest and employee expectations. You are comfortable balancing standardized procedures with the flexibility needed to create an award-winning guest experience. You excel at helping your staff grow and succeed. You’ve previously managed day-to-day operational activities in a customer facing hospitality environment. You have a strong aptitude for all aspects of management including human resources, sales, financial and fiduciary responsibilities, fulfillment operations, and excellent employee and guest relations. You’re a motivated leader who thrives on creating a climate of inclusion, trust, and productivity. Ultimately, you’re responsible for implementing and continuing the success of our business practices while facilitating growth at Rockaway Beach Resort.

Practical experience is essential. A Bachelor’s degree is desirable but not required. We are looking for the right person who has a firm grasp on the fundamentals, is well organized, and can multi-task efficiently when needed under pressure.

 

Objectives of this Role

  • Accountable for efficient and effective total resort and conference center operations.
  • Creatively drive new and repeat business by leveraging internal skills and external resources.
  • Directly supervise, coach, and empower department managers.
  • Support the marketing and sales efforts across all channels including supervision of sales staff that may be jointly funded.
  • Serve as the public face of the resort and our events business requiring personable outreach and interaction with event managers, community business owners/suppliers, government officials, and so on.
  • Design, implement, and monitor business processes for increased productivity and growth.
  • Interpret data from various departments, make strategic decisions, and execute resulting plans of action.
  • Use critical thinking to solve issues and to prioritize effectively.
  • Assure compliance with employment and business laws, insurance regulations and inspections, etc.
  • Provide insight into current trends and business practices to ensure RBR is balancing efficiency with the best possible guest experience.
  • Ensure all staff are supported and encouraged to their full potential.
  • Collaborate with the Tillamara executive team.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Robust interpersonal skills and a love for people
  • Strong personal ethics
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or related field preferred
  • At least 3 years experience as a General Manager or equivalent hospitality managerial role
  • Proven experience with business and strategy development processes
  • Outstanding poise in a fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Knowledge of financial procedures and analytics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Capable of grasping and utilizing complex ideas and strategies
  • Proficiency with database and information systems software
  • Up-to-date knowledge of hospitality and conference center trends
  • Relevant marketing and social media experience
