Best Western Plattsburgh is seeking an experienced, dynamic Sales Manager to join our team. We're looking for an active customer-focused team player with exceptional sales skills to be the next Sales Manager at our busy hotel. You'll oversee the development of a sales and marketing plan that includes soliciting new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue targets via outside sales calls, on-site visits and sales tours, and community networking. This energetic leader will be able to enhance revenue by researching local market trends and competitive behavior to discover and close business leads. Primary Responsibilities Include:

 

  • · Support the Director of Sales & Marketing in preparing the departmental budget as well as the hotels’ overall sales goals and strategies
  • Increase new business and accelerate revenue generation by cold calling, on-site visits, and sales tours, as well as engaging your local community network
  • Study and research local market trends and competitor activity to discover potential leads
  • Develop and maintain connections with important groups and catering accounts in order to maintain and expand our market share
  • Attend various industry tradeshows and conferences as a professional representative of the hotel while adhering to the budget and marketing plan requirements
  • Serve as a member of the properties management team
  • · Perform other duties as assigned

 

Successful Candidates Must Have:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a similar field is a plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in sales management or a leadership role in the sales department, preferably in hospitality
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Some previous work experience in a hospitality role required
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to negotiate and network effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment with the ability to adapt to change quickly
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Schedule varies according to business demands and needs
  • Exce ptional interpersonal skills and human relation skills that positively benefit interaction with staff, partners, and external clientele
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to plan, prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer skills, with a strong working knowledge of the primary Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
