Day Shift

Pay range for Senior Machinist level: $35 to $50 per hour

Job Summary

The 5 Axis Programmer/Machinist is responsible for interpreting Technical Drawings and setting up metal working processes; work holding fixtures, process steps, equipment and tooling selection and running machinery in accordance with quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Interpret technical drawings and use knowledge to setup metal working processes, work holding fixtures, process steps, equipment and tooling selection.
• Write programs on 2&3 - 5 axis machines using Mastercam.
• Setup and prove out processes on 5 Axis CNC Mazak & Haas machines.
• This is all low volume/high mix machined parts.
• May fabricate dies, jigs and fixtures for work piece orientation or work holding.
• Monitor CNC processes and implement proactive solutions; process improvements, line flow, quality, efficiency
• Develop machine set-ups, program edits, and working with tolerances to +/- .0001"
• Measurement and inspection of parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and various other inspection equipment
• Other duties as assigned**

Required Skills

• Ability to read CAD models and 2-D prints and update paperwork neatly, accurately, and in an organized manner
• Must possess trouble-shooting skills and ability to think critically.
• Must be able to work independently, but also demonstrate an ability to work productively within a team environment.
• Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment with tight deadlines.
• Ability to work with and provide feedback to various departments and customers within the shop and externally.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Five (5) years' experience in 5 (3+2-axis) CNC programming and machining using Mastercam Software; applicants with at least 10 years of experience may be considered for a Senior level role.
• Complete working knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5) and proficient in reading/understanding part manufacturing drawings
• Experience on Mazak & Haas machining centers. Experience with programming of several other CNC Milling centers and controls (Fanuc/Mazatrol/Heidenhain) a plus.
• Mastery of high-speed machining and tool path optimization.

• Prolonged period of standing and walking on hard surfaces
• Repetitive movement
• Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
• Capable of bending, reaching and lifting objects weighing up to 35 lbs
