As a Senior Buyer/Planner in our Amesbury, MA location, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
  • Creates and manages a master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecast and customer demand. Plans and schedules production orders for all work centers and monitors progress to ensure OTD targets are met
  • Procures raw materials, packaging supplies, and consumables based on existing and forecasted sales orders. Works with receiving, quality, and engineering to resolve issues with receiving inspection and purchase order requirements with applicable suppliers
  • Verifies and reports status updates on production progress as requested. Schedules, reports, and executes recovery efforts for production lines that fall behind schedule
  • Generates purchase orders from approved purchase requisitions. Maintains good working relationships with suppliers to meet customer quality and schedule requirements. Assures compliance with corporate purchasing policies and procedures, and issues updated specifications to suppliers. Resolves service and material procurement issues with suppliers in a professional and timely manner
  • Prepares periodic purchasing and planning reports. Develops realistic demand plans in order to maximize production resources (both people and equipment), control inventory, and support customer needs. Provides reports and/or relevant data for management and inter-departmental entities (such as Finance, QA, Receiving, etc.)
  • Oversees the organization of raw materials following 5S principles. Coordinates and manages cycle counts and shelf life audits
  • Prepares production documentation and communicates with Production Leads; works with Production Leads and/or Production Supervisors to communicate accurate lead times to sales department for RFQs and new sales orders
  • Coordinates with sales and management team to meet inventory and sales goals


Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required, but a Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • 3+ years planning/scheduling and/or buying experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Computer proficiency is required; must have above-average proficiency in MS Excel, as well as general proficiency in other MS Office Products
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems is required. Experience with Microsoft AX is preferred
  • Knowledge of ITAR, FAR, DFARS, and DPAS provisions and clauses is preferred
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001/AS 9100 environment preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, and superior communication (oral and written), organization, and interpersonal skills are required
  • APICS Certification and Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred
  • Solid negotiation skills preferred
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance
