The Junior Buyer ensures timely and cost-effective sourcing of steel needs to satisfy customer demand while adhering to company guidelines. In addition, the Junior buyer maintains the status of all open purchase orders to confirm accurate and updated supplier information. The role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and timely responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Source and purchase stock requirements for customer demand
• Expeditor of all open purchase orders with suppliers
• Maintain due date status on all open orders with suppliers, including managing all past due reports.
• Develop and maintain strong company/vendor relationships.
• Provide pertinent supplier information and feedback to the purchasing management staff.
• Review shipping and price discrepancies from suppliers in a timely manner to ensure accurate system costs.
• Work directly with logistics department on individual purchase order ready status and communicate directly with sales on updated changes to timing of arrival.
• Become familiar with general information relating to all products for cross training.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer skills, needs to include Excel spreadsheet proficiency
