As a Senior Consultant providing budget management services to our Transportation clients, you may expect to support a variety of budget-related activities. Examples include helping clients prepare and refine budget requests, prepare input in support of performance plans, enter and monitor appropriation / apportionment / allotment / allocation balances, support funds control and/or budget execution activities, and assist with budgetary reporting matters.
Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Leveraging data analysis skills to improve budget operations
Participating in meetings with client and team to understand project / program objectives and challenges regarding client's budget and finance operations
Working with a team to develop solutions to solve process and policy challenges for budget office personnel
Supporting team management with business development activities, including, but not limited to, proposal writing and client research
Proposing data-oriented ideas and solutions and help synthesize for recommendation to the client
Understanding strengths / weaknesses of existing data sets and data handling practices, and propose ideas and solutions to help the team and client more efficiently and effectively manage and report data
Leading implementation of accepted recommendations and solutions
Presenting updated deliverables and work products to team leadership and client, making complex concepts simple
Being adaptable to changing client requirements and asks and be able to work closely with project leadership to solve challenges
Demonstrating an ability to learn new skills, challenge yourself, and increase your capabilities and competencies
What You Will Need:
3+ years of relevant experience
1+ years experience delivering Federal budget management, which may include budget planning and/or execution
Knowledge of the Federal budget cycle
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university
Significant proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio
Outstanding problem-solving skills and critical thinking
High attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Experience in consulting (preferably Federal)
Knowledge of the Federal financial and grants management landscape
Certification(s) (e.g., Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Lean Six Sigma, Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP), Prosci Change Management Certification)
