HealthCare Support is actively seeking a Certified Phlebotomist – Float to fill an opening in La Conner, WA.

Daily Responsibilities for Certified Phlebotomist – Float:

Venipuncture and specimen collection:
- Venipuncture and specimen collections performed accurately and timely
- Follow the Venipuncture standard of work (SOW) at all times
- Follow the Processing standard of work (SOW) at all times, positively identification of all patient specimens
- Give proper patient collection instructions, i.e., urine
- Instruct patients in post-phlebotomy care
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with safety regulations
- Properly dispose of bio-hazardous materials
- Obtain specimens for microbiology testing
- Order sufficient supplies to perform the workload, rotate stock, and prevent the use of outdated supplies
Perform waived laboratory testing:
- Perform waived laboratory testing
- Follow the Resulting standard of work (SOW) at all times.
- Follow the Processing standard of work (SOW) at all times.
- Runs quality control, evaluates test run acceptability and verifies results, and performs proficiency testing.
- Participate in competency assessment.
- Follow TEC lab procedures and guidelines
- Follow the Calling Critical Value policy
Greet and register patients:
- Greet and register patients in a polite and professional manner
- Follow the Reception standard of work (SOW) at all times
- Problem solve efficiently and promptly
- Locate missing lab orders and specimens
- Competent and efficient phone skills
- Perform EKGs and miscellaneous services for our patients
- Clean and disinfect work areas
- La Conner 7:00am-5:00pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Smokey Point Sundays 8:00-5:00pm.
- High School diploma or GED; completion of a Phlebotomy Certificate program through an accredited school.
- Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-Pbt) certification from the state to perform capillary and venous invasive procedures for blood withdrawal under the supervision of a health care practitioner.
- BLS certification is required or obtained within the first 30 days of employment. Documented training program to include all elements of CLIA regulation
- Minimum 1 year lab draw experience
Preferred Qualifications for Certified Phlebotomist – Float:
- Proficient at phlebotomy. Hold a current Washington state driver's license, so they can get to their work location. Be Willing to go to our Anacortes or Stanwood if needed.
