Job Details:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Controller to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced environment where you will be instrumental in overseeing the financial operations of our company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all facets of accounting and financial reporting activities. This includes construction accounting, project accounting, financial reporting, and other related tasks. If you have a strong background in these areas, particularly in the construction industry, and the ability to lead with a strategic vision, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage all general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial statements.
2. Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results.
3. Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required).
4. Prepare and present monthly financial reports including monthly profit and loss by division, forecast vs. budget by division and weekly cash flow by division.
5. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes.
6. Manage the budget process for the entire company.
7. Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
8. Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed. Develop and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
9. Coordinate with project accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support.
10. Provide expertise in the construction accounting system, Timberline, to ensure data integrity, report accuracy, and improved efficiencies.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. CPA or MBA preferred.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position in the construction industry.
4. Proficient in construction accounting and project accounting.
5. Strong working knowledge of Timberline/ Sage 300
6. Proficient in advanced financial reporting, including the preparation and analysis of reports.
7. Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
8. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
9. Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
11. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, clients, and vendors.
