Job Details



Job Summary: The Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in various settings such as commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings. They apply engineering principles to ensure efficient and effective HVAC system performance while adhering to industry standards, codes, and regulations.

Position Description
System Design and Analysis

  • Conduct heat load calculations, psychrometric analysis, and energy modeling to determine HVAC system requirements.
  • Design HVAC systems including equipment selection, ductwork layout, piping systems, and control strategies.

Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed schematics and drawings.

Equipment Selection and Specification
  • Evaluate HVAC equipment and components to ensure compatibility, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Specify HVAC equipment based on project requirements, performance criteria, and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure high-quality components and materials.

Code Compliance and Standards
  • Interpret and apply relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA) to HVAC designs.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes for safety, environmental protection, and energy efficiency.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the HVAC industry.

Project Management and Coordination
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress, resolve technical issues, and address changes or deviations from the original design.

Testing, Commissioning, and Optimization
  • Oversee the testing, commissioning, and startup of HVAC systems to ensure proper functionality and performance.

Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of HVAC design calculations, drawings, specifications, and equipment manuals.
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and compliance certificates as required.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to project stakeholders.

Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure.
5+ years of experience in HVAC system design, analysis, and project management.
Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HVAC load calculation software).
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
Knowledge of building HVAC systems, equipment, controls, and technologies.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
