Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Facilities Maintenance Tradesman is a self-motivated and hands-on team member. The Facilities Maintenance Tradesman will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall functionality and appearance of company spaces at the North Carolina Speedball location. They are responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks. This position reports directly to the Maintenance and Facilities Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adheres to Vandor's Values, Principles and policies as published in the Vandor Team Member Handbook.
- Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Conducts/organizes repair on plumbing, electrical systems, and appliances.
- Addresses minor carpentry and drywall issues.
- Assists with grounds keeping tasks (mowing, trimming, etc.) to maintain cleanliness of outdoor spaces.
- Performs Routine maintenance throughout the facility (doors, locks, windows).
- Conducts regular safety inspections, address hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Maintains a polished look within the facility by painting and touching up when needed.
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Maintains awareness of their impact on product quality and the importance of their activities in achieving, maintaining, and improving quality according to ISO 9001 as applicable.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.
- Coordinates with Maintenance and Plant Manager about completed tasks and upcoming projects.
- Exhibits regular and predictable attendance.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses strong knowledge of general maintenance and repair techniques.
- Displays proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Proves ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently.
- Possesses knowledge of and adheres to safety protocols and regulations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Requires a high school diploma/GED.
- At least 2-5 years of building maintenance or similar experience is required.
- Relevant certifications in maintenance or trade skills are a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Has the ability to read, comprehend and write the English language as it relates to safety, job responsibilities and other essential communication.
- Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Possesses strong reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze problems and identify, implement, and rationalize solutions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Must be able to lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds consistently, with heavier weight necessary at times.
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend and twist for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment described below is representative of the surroundings a Team Member encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- Works within a fast-paced manufacturing environment that is not temperature regulated.
- The environment may be loud requiring hearing protection in some areas.
- Personal protective equipment is required as defined with in the hazard analysis sheet defined for this position.
