Job purpose

Secure the success for medmix in the US and global markets by ensuring reliable, cost effective and efficient availability of medmix products and services. As a Metrologist/Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, specification, development and implementation of measurement systems for various devices. They may design layout, materials and information flow, or machine placement. They may also be responsible for increasing production efficiency by evaluating performance and proposing and implementing improvements.  The  Metrologist/Electrical Engineer responsibilities include installing, maintaining, improving and troubleshooting the various system that affect and/or involved in the manufacturing so that final products meet the established quality standards. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the calibration systems within the facility. 

Main accountabilities and tasks

  1. Investigate advanced metrology methods, including multi-sensor CMMs, non-contact inspection systems, and advanced sensors and gaging methods
  2. This position requires the ability to work with minimal supervision/engineering oversight on a moderate level of engineering support tasks
  3. Responsible for manufacturing and QC process design, including machinery selection and automation level selection, example CMM, laser scanning system, vision control system, manual equipment, build strong business case along with development or improvement concept
  4. Responsible for fixtures and new parts
  5. Develop in-depth expertise in the area of electrical and pneumatic instrumentation including the applicable control system interfaces
  6. Program leadership on CMM
  7. Test mechanical features using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), video-based inspection and measurement equipment
  8. Drive the qualification of new measurement and testing equipment
  9. Consult and guide site/supplier end users on training and maintenance of new fixtures and equipment
  10. Responsible for calibration systems to include risk assessments, calibration schedule, calibration method, calibrations, assist in out of spec instrument investigations and other calibration duties as assigned.
  11. Static and Dynamic repeatability studies for Measurement Fixtures, Manufacturing Tooling and Inline Measurement Gauges
  12. Support design engineering on new development projects
  13. Evaluates and provides input to inspection processes via inspection aids and instruction guidelines
  14. Provide “hands on” support to manufacturing during manufacturing, assembly, and test of prototype and production hardware to ensure delivered products meet requirements, are easy to manufacture, and are testable during production for high yield product release
  15. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on ensuring processes and techniques are aligned with future business needs
  16. Take ownership as the point of contact including training staff of metrology issues
Qualifications

Desired experience and qualifications

Work experience: 3+ years in a manufacturing environment

Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, related field or equivalent work experience

Other:

  1. Proven experience working in a similar role, specifically in the metrology field.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  3. Strong organizational skills and analytical mindset 
  4. Initiative-taking and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  5. Previous experience working in GxP laboratories is preferred
  6. Developing knowledge of the basic principles in various engineering disciplines
  7. Ability to investigate and learn new technologies within metrology
  8. Coordinate, create, and modify inspection routines on CMM for current and new components
  9. Proficient in mathematical applications- Algebra, Geometry, & Trigonometry
  10. Knowledge of mechanical inspection methods and tools used to determine product acceptance
  11. Be able to communicate effectively on deviations to specifications
