Department: OptimERA Tech.

Terms: Full-Time Rotation.


Position is for a 6 week ON, ~4 to 5 Week OFF (Adjustments made for vcation, hoilday, etc as applicable.) 

  • Rotations will overlap with other rotating linemen, as schedules allow with a 1 week overlap.
  • Housing Included (Apartment with private room and  shared common area)
  • Airfare to/from Job site to Anchorage Ak Included, per rotation
  • Travel Time paid for actual hours traveled, up to 8 hours per day, per Company policy in place.
  • Hotel accommodations provided with prior approval.
  • Utility vehicle for work use only.
  • Shared personal use vehicle available for use per Company Policies in place.
  • Paid On-call as requested by Customer.

 

Wage: Based on State of Alaska DOL Title 36. Rates  as of May 1st, 2024, for a Total Hourly ST wage of $98.28. 

A0705 Power Journeyman Lineman, including:

Base hourly Wage $63.44

Overtime: 1.5X after 8 hours


Fringe: $34.84 

Fringe is paid at ST only, 


Total Hourly ST Wage $98.28. 

Total Hourly OT Wage #130.00


Retirement: 401k with match available after applicable employment period


Purpose of Position: Linemen will work under the direction of the Operations Branch of OptimERA Tech. They will carry out daily maintenance tasks, field service calls and assist with all new construction projects and Maintenance primarily as part of a support contract for the Local Utility. Linemen will be responsible for code compliant new construction, repairs, maintenance and required upgrades to ensure compliance and system readiness. The ideal Linemen is highly self-motivated, professional, and capable of managing their workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. Linemen shall be able to interact directly and indirectly with customers and vendors in a professional manner to help remedy service-related issues in a courteous and  confidential manner. Linemen may be required to provide daily supervision and facilitate on the job training of an apprentice throughout their employment.

 

Position's Customer(s): Service level customers, management, internal employees, vendors and Accounting.

 

Essential Duties of Position:

  • Daily Tasks - 40%
    • Perform routine checks of Utility sites and equipment.
    • Assist with service calls and carry-out troubleshooting of customer services, both remotely and in-person
    • Perform general maintenance of Utility equipment as required.
    • Perform routine tasks & maintenance; Cable organization, general maintenance, tool maintenance, inventory, cleaning and other duties as assigned.
    • Perform new installation of Private and Public Utility Services.

 

  • New Site Installation and Development/General support – 25%
    • Assist with site visits and review of new services.
    • Assist with development of material take-offs for new site construction.
    • Mobilization and inventory of materials received for construction.
    • Install cabling, electrical infrastructure, enclosures, structures and apparatuses and power systems as required for new construction.

 

  • Construction and Maintenance – 25%
    • Maintenance of existing sites, grounding, bonding and physical hardware checks.
    • Assist with replacement of equipment, vaults, sectionalizers and metering equipment.
    • Inventory and maintenance of safety equipment.
    • Maintenance and documentation of required site signage.
    • Attend position specific training as required

 

  • Documentation and Reporting - 10%
    • Organization, documentation and orderly filing of installed Equipment and associated manuals and reference materials.
    • Documentation and labeling of existing and new cabling, electrical circuit.
    • Track hours, report tasks performed, and billable hours as required in a timely manner as required on a Daily basis.
    • Track, update and maintain truck and supply inventory.

 

 

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with the industry and technologies related to the development, deployment, and operation of Private and Public Utilities.
  • Experience with operation of the equipment the trade, including but not limited to aerial equipment, mobilization equipment and excavation equipment.
  • Familiarity with developing switching procedure; including but not limited to tailgate meeting, radio etiquette, isolation and bonding procedure and proper customer notice.
  • Experience with troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Strong organizational, project management, problem-solving skills and multi-tasking abilities.

 

Years of Experience required to meet minimum qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a Journeyman Power lineman.
  • Basic Microsoft Office and computer skills, with the ability to become familiar with company-specific programs and software’s related to, Troubleshooting, configuration, development and Human Resources.
  • Minimum of 2 years Private or Public Utility related experience with preference given to experience in Underground installations, splicing and/or industrial power.

 

Level of Education required to meet minimum qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or GED required.

 

Certifications Required:  State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness for Power Lineman Journeyman, Type A CDL State of Alaska Preferred or ability to acquire within 6 Mo of employment

Reporting Relationships:

Position reports to: Employer Electrical Administrator or Direct supervisor

Number of Direct Reports (if applicable):   1 – Apprentice as assigned.

 

 

Physical Requirements: Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.  Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color.  Ability to use a computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday, perform repetitive keyboarding activities and operate general office equipment.  Must have the ability to communicate orally, both in person and over the telephone. Ability to lift and carry up to (50) lbs. and work in cramped spaces. Sufficient balance for occasional use of a step ladder. Sufficient hearing, vision, depth perception, and hand-to-eye coordination to perform job duties.  Visual and auditory acuity necessary to operate equipment and identify color-coding.  Ability to tolerate temperature and weather extremes (fumes and odors, dust, low light conditions.) Sufficient strength, dexterity, and coordination to perform job duties.      

 

 

 

Working Conditions: Position will include mostly field and site work but will include minimal Office/Clerical environment work.  Limited travel to remote sites throughout Alaska and to lower 48 States is expected in the performance of job duties and training. Ability to work extended hours without notice in order to resolve service impacting issues. Minimal clerical and office work is expected.    

 

 

Driving Requirements: Must have valid driver’s license with CDL endorsement as required for the work atmosphere and anticipated equipment operated.
